Bio

At Prairieland Psychology, we create space to explore. Like the vastness, diversity, and beauty of the Alberta Prairies, we can work together to create a therapy that is right for you and helps you create the growth you hope for.

Whether you are feeling very unwell and have noticed impacts in your daily functioning, or simply want to do some self-exploration and skill building, I will meet you where you are at and compassionately challenge you to grow.

I work with individual adults, couples, families, kids, and teens. I also offer group therapy and organizational/business therapy. Additionally, I am able to perform formal psychological assessments in order to provide clients with accurate diagnoses, should this be desired or needed.

I am warm and curious. I believe therapy is about connection.

I don’t shy away from humor when appropriate. I think therapy should be fun and engaging.

I believe in finding a sense of ease in the midst of our challenges.

I value contentment and simplicity.

I believe we have the power to create a rich and meaningful life.

I believe in personal responsibility infused with self-compassion.

My approach is relational and conversational, to help you define patterns and themes in your life, and create movement where you’ve felt stuck. I have a Humanistic-Existential lens and I draw many techniques from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. My approach is also Solution-Focused, Strengths- Based, and Emotion-Focused. Ultimately, I am integrative and I like to incorporate whatever modalities and techniques compliment each session, so that we can be explorative and effective.

I am community-minded and passionate about rural/small town counselling.

A Letter to my Community- Addressing The Mistrust in My Field

The following I want to share with confidence that I understand those I serve, and with the intent of showing my values as a psychology practitioner and hopefully, overtime, gaining your trust as someone you can go to, someone to trust your children with, someone to support your marriage, when you are in need.

I think there is a lot of scary things happening politically and socially, and these ideas have infiltrated a field that is meant to place protection and minimizing harm in the highest regard. The new definition of harm is rather shiny and progressive, but well, maybe im a little old fashioned.

I vow to provide good, diligent, wholesome help that keeps my conscience clear so that I can sleep at night knowing I’ve not used my influence to bolster an agenda that is not worthy of compliance.

I hope I will get the chance to gain more of your trust, Stettler, my beautiful home for a cumulative 13 years and counting.
